The Beatles Revealed

Another nice Beatles book has joined the collection.
“The Beatles Revealed” is a large-format hardback book of 200 pages, printed on quality glossy paper:
Music journalist and author Hugh Fielder would be known to some Beatles collectors because he compiled the rear cover liner notes for the British edition of the Beatles “Rarities” album. This originally came out as a bonus record available only as part of “The Beatles Collection” box set. But in 1979 the record was issued separately as a stand-alone single vinyl LP (with the Fielder liner notes) due to popular demand. You can read that story here. The rear cover of that release looks like this:

The Beatles - Hey Jude

About RELIENT K

Relient K played its first gig in December 1997, back when Matthew Thiessen and guitarist Matt Hoopes were still in high school and tooling around in the latter’s Plymouth Reliant K, which inspired the band’s name. The group recorded its first demo the following year with producer Mark Lee Townsend, who has worked on each of the band’s subsequent full-length albums (although Five Score And Seven Years Ago was largely produced by Howard Benson).
In the ensuing decade, Relient K has released five full-length albums (of which three have been certified Gold), five EPs and a Christmas collection, toured incessantly, scored a string of hit singles, a Grammy nomination and two Dove awards, and performed on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “Late Night with Conan O’Brien,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and numerous other national TV shows. The Los Angeles Times praised Relient K for “its smart blend of punk pop and power pop, weaving together influences as diverse as the Beach Boys, Blink-182 and Fountains of Wayne” while Spin noted: “Few bands play punk-influenced modern rock as proficiently.”  But the band’s quirky sense of humor remains intact and there’s a fresh excitement about the future.

Linkin Park’s ‘New Divide’

New Divide or New Horizon?
After lying low for almost 2 years, Linkin Park are back with quite an impact – their new song, “New Divide” is featured as a theme song in one of this summer’s most anticipated movies – the Transformer’s sequel, Revenge of the Fallen. The movie will be in theaters on June 24, 2009.  The single is already available for purchase on iTunes.
“New Divide” has made history by being just the 3rd record in history to debut in the Top 10 on the American Billboard Hot 100 Chart & Modern Rock Chart simultaneously.  Linkin Park’s “What I’ve Done” also enjoyed similar success.  The track is “built on layered, heavy synths and a sharp performance by Mr. Bourdon.” It also creates “a nice interplay between the organic feel of the rhythm track and the more robotic feel of the keyboards.”
Mike Shinoda recently spoke with Entertainment Weekly about Linkin Park’s brand new single.
I feel like “New Divide” is the beginning of a new phase for our band. We’re hoping to release things a little bit more often. We’re hoping to have Chester’s solo album, which will be under the project title of Dead By Sunrise, out by the end of this year. And we’ll have a new Linkin Park record out next year.
Creating The Song
Linkin Park give a small glimpse into the creating of the song “New Divide” in the video below, as they collaborate on creating the track.
